If you’re in the market for something (not someone, sadly we can’t help you there) to snuggle with on the sofa, there’s one thing to remember: utility and decorativeness do not have to be mutually exclusive. That’s one of the most important rules when it comes to beautifying your home, particularly when it comes to the items you use most.
Of course, these items have other criteria to meet before any sort of decorative value is taken into account. First and foremost, they have to be fit for purpose. A throw blanket must be comfy, cuddly, snuggly, [insert cutesy adjective here], but it should also add aesthetic value to your living space. Because, why not?
A throw blanket is by no means an objet d’art, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be an item of beauty. We say use the throw to dump the banality of daily life and don’t stop there. We’re talking toilet brushes, salad tongs, placemats – everything in your home should bring you joy. (Thanks, Marie Kondo.)
